Our children’s home on the outskirts of New Delhi, India, provides a family-like environment for children with various disabilities and genetic conditions.
Our goal is to offer the best care and therapy in a loving setting, ensuring that the children feel welcomed and loved. Our work also emphasizes a well-rounded education. Some of our children, despite their disabilities, are integrated into the mainstream school system and even go on to pursue higher education.
In addition, we conduct regular house visits for chronically sick and severely disabled children and provide them with the best medical treatment we can offer. Our work also extends to education, with the children being accompanied on a schooling path to receive an education, a precious commodity in India.

Founded in 2011
The story
In 2003, Nicole, then a young student, visited India for the first time and encountered a ten-year-old boy named Ganesh in a home for disabled street children. He was nothing but skin and bones, lying naked on a bed.
A Bible had been placed beside him, but no one bothered to feed him. Due to a neurological condition, Ganesh was unable to feed himself and was slowly starving. Nicole eventually persuaded the home’s management to take Ganesh to a hospital, where he recovered after months of treatment and regained his ability to smile.
During her search for a more suitable children’s home, Nicole came across many other severely disabled children throughout India who were merely existing in similar conditions.
Seven years later, after the publication of her first book, Nicole decided to establish a specialized children’s home that would cater to the unique needs of such children. On the outskirts of Delhi, Nicole, with her organization Human Dreams, rented a multi-story house in a residential area and began looking for qualified local staff.
In May 2011, the first severely disabled child was finally admitted. Milap, a twelve-year-old boy, had been placed in a home by his parents at a young age due to his physical disability (cerebral palsy).
While there, he contracted bone tuberculosis, which he was able to recover from in the children’s home of Human Dreams, Just a few weeks later, other children in need found a new home in the care facility.
The Team behind the Children’s Home
To ensure the well-being and positive development of our children, we have assembled a dedicated and professional team.
Our staff includes two caregivers, a social worker, a physiotherapist, and private teachers, all working under the leadership of a local manager.
Some of our children attend English-medium schools, while others receive personalized education through private tutoring and benefit from regular medical check-ups and hospital visits.
Support Beyond Physical Needs
The support we provide to the children goes far beyond meeting their basic needs – it includes not only psychological counselling but also their education. Despite the challenges they face, we want them to have access to a quality education, which is invaluable for their future.
Some of our children attend English-medium schools, while others receive private tutoring. Our eldest has recently completed a degree in Special Education at a university in Gurugram and is now gaining her first work experience.
Stories of Miracles
Over the years, we have witnessed the miracle of care: we have seen with our own eyes how treatment, care and, above all, love have saved scores of children, completely transforming them.
Finally, their faces were smiling again. Like little Ganesh, a lump of skin and bones, who we could hardly believe could still be alive. Instead, thanks to intensive care, he became a healthy child with lots of energy and will to live. We have many of such stories, of children saved at the last minute.
Children who anyone would consider doomed, a lost cause, a useless intervention. But we don’t. We will not back down, we will be there with them to fight for their lives. We will try to save them, should it be even at the last minute.
Children’s success stories
Yohan and Mary
Yohan and Mary are siblings living with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a genetic disorder that weakens the skin’s resilience and makes it prone to injuries.
They came to us from difficult circumstances, neglected and malnourished. Yohan also suffered from a clubfoot and a misaligned elbow. Thanks to a successful surgery, he was able to walk again and experience a new sense of freedom.
While Yohan attended an English-medium private school, Mary, who had never been to school at fourteen, received private tutoring. She quickly caught up to the fourth-grade level and went on to excel in her high school exams.
Mary has since completed a degree in special education and is now gaining her first work experience.
Their journey is a powerful testament to what can be achieved with resilience and determination!
